Girls Hike & First Rain of 2008
On 1-4-08 my friend Candi and I hiked the perimeter of Crystal Cove State Park (11 miles) - despite the promise of rain!

Along the Deer Canyon trail there were HUNDREDS of bulb leaves bursting through the ground. We also noticed the young leaves of lupine just past the junction of Poles trail on No Dogs trail. The wild cucumber is already in flower, so be on the lookout for their prickly fruits in the months to come!

Then, as I drove home, the sprinkles began to drop! As it grew dark the skies finally released their live giving tonic, and the plants throughout Orange County quivered in THANKS for the much needed, thirst quenchng rain. It will be a fabulous Spring widlflower show for sure!
